Harnser's present position to be updated when I get a 3 signal

We set of at 10 an in very light drizzle and met several boats, as we
approached New Marton top lock we could see loads of boat, luckily half
of them were moored but there were still 6 in front of us. We stopped
right by the water point so decided to fill up even if it meant losing
our place in the queue. As it turned out we just completed filling up as
the boat ahead moved forward. There were boats waiting to come up so we
worked one for one which was slow as for some reason people seem to
think that you have to wait until the boat coming out of the lock has
passed you before you even consider untying your 3 mooring lines.
Eventually it was our turn to go down by which time Diana had made us egg
and bacon sandwiches for lunch and we had eaten them. At the next lock
there were still 2 ahead of us and as we helped the boat coming up they
asked advise, it was two ladies, one had her mother with them and she
was 81, they had never been on a boat before and never seen a lock. We
gave them as much advice as we could but made sure we didn't work the
lock for them so they knew what to do at the next one. Even though there
had been 6 boats behind us at the last lock when we came through only
one came to join us at this lock, so the through put must have slowed
down a lot. We carried on to Franklin Junction as I was able to get a 3
signal here last time we passed through, by now it was raining steadily
so we decided to moor for the night, but with the rain there is no 3
signal so this is coming via the phone on Vodafone..
