As you will have noticed BW proposes a £50 surcharge on all boats over 6ft 10ins wide...so that will include most ex-working (and many replica) narrowboats built to the correct gauge of 7ft, or spread to 7ft 2ins!? This will attempt to dispense with another load of troublesome boaters, that demand that pinch points are removed and that the canal is dredged (where in reality, working boats are doing most of the silt dispersal)
What with the £150 surcharge on Continuous Cruisers (where in reality it should only apply to the Continuous Moorers), it would appear that BW are favouring their prefered market, the Contiuous Berthers...ie the people with £60,000 plus narrowboats that moor in £3000 plus marinas, who hardly ever come out and actually *do* any boating and are well-off enough to afford the "modest" licence increase. -- Neil Arlidge - NB Earnest Follow the travels of TNC, now in Ireland http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/tour.html ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
