I must use Adrian reasoning about marginal costs when I dealing with the Council Tax department. How dare they tax me more because I live in a 4 bedroom house, instead of a flat? Knowing it will probably upset some, I'm afraid I agree with an extra charge for wider boats perhaps not with 2.1meters but on the whole yes I do agree with it perhaps say 2.5meters? We all know what Council Tax is and why? to make revenue for the councils to spend, so why can't BW use the same principle in taxing boats your boat is bigger in volume you pay more? I pay more than a boat smaller, I except that so why not on the breadth of a boat as well. Why not set the charge on the volume, so you can have a wide, but short boat paying the same as a narrow but long. Moose NB Daisybob
Adrian Wrote:Yes. The marginal cost to BW of a boat navigating a km along awaterway is negligible, according to BW. So even if that cost didvary with beam, there would be no justification for charging widerboats more, because that greater cost would still be negligible. Butit doesn't -- none of BW's costs increases significantly with beam. snipBut one thing's for sure. Sizism has no place on the waterways. _________________________________________________________________ Discover Bird's Eye View now with Multimap from Live Search http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/111354026/direct/01/ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
