# > Most annoying things: # > 1. people who quote a vast posting and add their own three # words at the end. # # Yes, this is annoying. In the past, I have done occasional # postings about # this, and have also rapped knuckles of individual offenders, but # unfortunately have not done so lately. My first post here after recently joining - I thought it was a one topic list!!! This is a problem with almost all (probably all) lists. However, I've not yet seen a quote of a complete Digest! # > 2. people who quote a vast posting and interleave their # replies throughout it # # Interleaving is good - I assume it's the quoting of parts # unrelated to the reply that's the problem. Our FAQ at # www.canals.com/netiquet.htm suggests # quoting just enough to provide context for your reply. Personally, I wherever possible, interspace my replies, having removed all unnecessary material. It's more like a normal verbal conversation. This is where Yahoo could easily make a vast improvement. Give all postings a number that is the same within a digest and for postings read on the website. Then quotes could just give the number. But pigs might fly!!! # > 4. pound signs, which appear in my digests as euro-space-pipe-pound I've never seen exactly this (euro-space-pipe-pound) on any other Yahoo Digest. But different characters appear when those using Apples post with a sterling pound sign. Not seen here is a massive quote of HTML code, that often appears. Reg
