Why is that? The Ashton is a good example of an urban canal and is safe 
enough if you do it during school hours. If Richard goes round 
clock-wise he would end up not doing the Ashton at all, which would mean 
he has not completed the South Pennine Ring. If you're not bothered 
about doing the whole ring, Richard, then go around clockwise, but don't 
be put off doing the Ashton by any misleading bad-mouthing of it.
