Yeah! I've ridden on it! I stayed at C.A.T a while ago when the lilo boater groups (see link below) all met up there. We had workshops on eco stuff and chose the winners of the postcard competition etc.
C.A.T has an excelent self sufficient set up with wind turbines, hydro turbine, solar heat and elec generation. Lots to learn and inspire. We had a tour and all the different systems were explained. The guide was surprised by the detail of our Qs untill she found out we from 'lilo' and already using sustainable sytems and wanting to improve. But yes the bike would work just the right gears on the bike together with alternator or dynamo. Oh and lance armstrong! There used to be, and maybe still is for all I know, a rig at the Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth, on which punters could get on a fixed bike connected to an alternator which in turn drove a 60w bulb. The effort required to get the bulb to do more than glow faintly was considerable.
