This looks kinda interesting for a boaty 3G wireless network:

Claimed to work anywhere - I presume it just takes a standard SIM.  
External antenna connector (always useful in a floating faraday cage),  
socket for analog phone (!), 802.11g wireless, WPA2, firewall, and OS  
X support. What more could you want? (a lower price perhaps....).
