I've come down from the summit of Caldon to Great Haywood over the past
3 days and until I reached the junction had seen just two boats on the
move. Can't say I blame people though as in places the ice was up to an
inch thick and needed a couple of tries to get through.

I just went for an easy run down to Tixall and back with some friends as
Hampstead had broken the ice this morning (thanks Keith) and it's a
glorious sunny, snowy day. Only one boat moored on the wide, though this
was probably a good thing given my ungainly manoeuvring to face back
towards the junction! Going forwards in ice is easy but I've not yet
found a good way to go round bends.
