But still the Chelmer Canal Trust volunteers went out on the 'Buddy Buster' workboat to clear Pennywort from the less frozen parts. Buddy has an aluminium hull so some of us were concerned it would be holed but it seemed OK when it got back, but it was the only boat we saw even trying to move. And I didn't realise how bad the weather was in South East Essex until a narrow boat went past my bedroom window just now - and we're ¾-mile from the nearest water. To be fair, nb Musewell *was* on a low-loader. ;-) DaveD
