Barry, did you actually *read* what I posted?!? If you google up the local newspaper for the area and read the sensible, balanced articles therein you'll actually discover that whilst the family are disappointed that their *first* application was turned down they *understand* the reasons and are taking them into account in the preparation of their next application.
You'd also discover that the council planning committee have said that they are, in principal, willing to grant planning permission for a dwelling for Marine Townsend on his Grandfathers land but that the design and location need to be amended. The jingoism is not coming from the man himself or his family, it's coming from sensationalist reporting by the likes of, well, Nick Ferrari on LBC for one. If the stringent rules preventing inappropriate rural development were ignored in this case, it would set a precedent which would be exploited again and again for profit by unscrupulous developers for profit.
