Perhaps Essex Waterways Ltd would like to set up a hotline too?

Incidentally the Guardian has a useful list of ten things to do with abandoned 
trolleys as alternatives to chucking them in the cut. I particularly like 
numbers 9 and 10:

I seem to recall from my days as a volunteer at Chelmsford in the cold winter 
of 1993 or thereabouts that they also made useful braziers...
