Look carefully at the replacement chimney. They seem to come in two styles,
one where the inner is a tight fit inside the collar (for where the flue
stops half way up the collar) and one where the inner is smaller (for where
the flue reaches the top of the collar).

The former are usually cheaper in construction with a folded seam on the
outer and a parallel inner; the latter are usually made of heavier steel
with a welded seam and a tapered inner.

If you get the wrong type it will either not fit (inner too big) or will let
tar condense between the walls and run down outside (inner too small). If
you do get the one where the inner is too small (as we did) you can recover
the mistake by filling the gap between the skins with fireproof foam.
