In my part of Essex we are on the fringes of three analogue transmitters (Sudbury, Dover and Crystal Palace) and two, possibly three, digital (South London, Bluebell Hill and [possibly]?Sudbury), so there is ample opportunity for the signals from one transmitter to freak out at least one of the others.
One of my friends has a roughly south-facing aerial and the other day received a similar message. He accepted the offer to install and found two French stations had appeared, but I believe he can no longer receive them. I can only assume that some freak weather conditions must have caused the Freeview circuits to have been triggered. It might also depend on the time of day as radio signals travel further during the dark hours compared with the distance they travel in daylight. My TV doesn't just?add new channels, but needs a full re-scan. With the frequent re-swapping of channels within the digital matices, the re-naming and re-branding of stations and some channels going off-air for financial or legal reasons this seems the best way to deal with them. However, during the re-scan it is quite possible that a station it found last time is not picked up cleanly this time. The fact you said Essex leads me to suspect that you have the > same problem as M-I-L. The ITV multiplex tends to rather near the analogue channel 5, so it's a bit weak so as not to interfere. Maybe your aerial is moving in this high wind we are having. I have no such problems at home (Lancs) as we have no C5 analogue (and very soon no analoge at all....), so all the channels are better spaced. ________________________________________________________________________ AOL Email goes Mobile!
