Essex is where the rubbish goes, but Larrington Towers has a line of sight 
to the Crystal Palace transmitter.  The initial rescan was at about 07:00, 
the one which got halfway was at about 17:00 and normal service was resumed 
after dark, as DaveD noted elsewhere.  I have turned off the automatic 
update facility.

I hope not - the aerial is on a shelf directly above the telly (the loft 
aerial perished in a bizarre gardening accident :-))
