When we went on the Dudley tunnel trip boat a couple of years ago, we were all issued with hard hats! The Elf 'n safety anouncement then went like this: 'We have to make this H & S announcement, so you will be happy to know that should we sink, there are enough lifebelts on board for all passengers. However, if we do sink, we recommend that you stand on the seats to avoid getting your feet wet. We also have sufficient fire extinguishers (water-based!) on board, in case this all-steel boat should spontaneously combust and the canal runs out of water! (They didn't like me 'n Jez wearing our hard hats on top of our leather stetsons much, tho!) Anne C
