LOL - They look like the old chain ferries that ran at Woolston in 
Southampton, all those years ago :-)

There is quite a lot of legislation through that canal though - full 
pilotage, convoys and minimum speeds come to mind amongst others - and 
breakdowns are *incredibly* expensive  - no CanalRescue subscriptions 
and service there :((>>
