If I remember rightly it began "Lock Ponuds were invented by the great engineer 
James Birndley. They were used at the Botch Locks on the Stiffs & Worse 
Canal..."

No, it's not any worse. In fact it's much better, because it provided an 
opportunity for an amusing response. Unless somebody can write an equally 
amusing response to the car ad...
