It's a while since we were there, and things have changed at Llangollen, but remember that a busy road runs close to the canal pretty much all the way from Trevor. There is, however, a nice, quiet mooring only a short walk from the end just E of the swing bridge to the E of the final narrow stretch. Our opinion of the trip was that it was better to travel than arrive. Llangollen town, at least on a summer weekend when we were there, was a truly horrid experience. At Llangollen, once you've exhausted the pleasures of the town (about ten minutes if you are tolerant), cross back over the canal and climb up to the castle. It's very quiet, peaceful and pretty. There were also lots of boletus cep mushrooms to pick. One can descend back to the moorings near the swing bridge just mentioned. The map in Nicholsons is just about adequate for navigation.
