A couple of my 'lads' that are using Windows 7 (we're an IT shop - not
literally I hasten to add) rate Windows 7 above Vista. Initial impressions are
positive.

As someone who has removed the pile of poo that is Vista from more
machines than I care to remember I'm glad to say I'm reasonably happy
with the copy of Windows 7 that I'm using at this very moment. Its had a
lot of the Vista bloat taken out (and I've switched off whatever I can
of what remains :-) ) and is actually a reasonable successor to XP
barring two massive annoyances as far as I'm concerned, the loss of the
old Windows Explorer interface (which went with Vista) and the decision
to not allow users to use the old style start menu, which is much
quicker than the new one if you have lots of programs installed.

I'm as yet undecided on whether I will buy a copy when this beta expires
as the laptop is only licensed for Vista (and I can safely say I won't
be running that) so it's going to be Win7 or Linux with XP under VMWare
for the Windoze bits.
