Just to clarify, we only ever ran the coolbox when the engine was running. Normally when cruising it would be on for upwards of 10 hours a day. When tied up for a few days we'd run the engine for 30 minutes or so morning and evening, partly to charge the batteries and partly for the coolbox. If necessary we could run the coolbox enough to keep it cold off the battery for a day or two.
