I think there's a confusion growing up here. The portfolio isn't a portfolio of canal heritage sites: listed warehouses and the like. It's a portfolio of primarily modern or modernised buildings, which have been assembled as income earners. In fact, as Sue pointed out on this list a few days ago, a lot of heritage property has already been sold off by BW. The proceeds of this have gone into buying other property that composes the portfolio. Or to use a shorthand, lock cottages have been used to buy bits of Canary Wharf. Rather than be harder to look after, BW believes that heritage best resides in private hands - private people if not private companies. Steve [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
