There was a dayboat and a tripboat on this section too though enough canal opened that you needed two days to do it. We did the trip over two days and found it a beautiful length.
Back then it was in better nick than it is now as BW seem to have let it go in the last few years. Last year even the horse hotel boat that uses the section had to give up bookings at one time as the canal and towpath were so bad. (Not sure if it is running this year.) Back when this section opened the local BW seemed really happy to have it. (We shared a lock with their tug which, they said was the first time two powered boats had ever passed through locks on this section.) Of course that was back in the days of Haskins - god bless him! --- On Wed, 16/6/10, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: > From: [email protected] <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [canals-list] Uncle Mort - almost like a holiday > To: [email protected] > Date: Wednesday, 16 June, 2010, 9:49 > [email protected] > wrote: > > At 6pm decided to move off – first a dunny dump and > then a gentle chug to > > the gem that is Lower Frankton.
