Hi Roderick, Your LAMP setup is incompatible with Care2x. Unfortunately Care2x calls lots of obsolete php3 functions that are not available or not working as expected in php5. There could be also problems using MySQL 4.1.x instead of 4.0.x. The same with Apache.
You need to install LAMP stack that I described. There is very easy-to-follow tutorial that desribes how to install from sources the necessary components with versions supported by Care2x: http://www.lamphowto.com/ After you have the appropriate LAMP stack all your problems should vanish.
