Pixelmed is good, but the GUI is desktop application and not an applet. For applet version they refer to Nagoya's applet dicom viewer that is already integrated in Care2x. However, it was worth to check again Nagoya's site, because I found there is newer version of the applet. I updated it in Care2x for beta 2.2.1. Another java applet I found is Eviewbox (eviewbox.sourceforge.net), but it has not been updated for 5 years and has purer quality than Nagoya's one. Care2x is server-side application and it can integrate software that fits this nature. Java applets are perfect, because the browser automatically downloads the client binaries from the server without any user interaction. This is not the case with the desktop applications. They have to be installed by the user. May be something can be done with Java Web Start, but I am not sure at the moment how this will look like from user's point of view. So, for now as dicom viewers Care2x will integrate only Java applets with gpl-compatible license. I understand that there is large variety of desktop-based dicom viewers and every user has its favourite one. I made a little modification in the radiology module that will help users to view the images with their own dicom viewer. I have added a 'Download' button for the images. Now the user can exploit the 'Download/Open with' capabilities of their browsers. Oliver, Joaquin, please check the new beta 2.2.1 and give feedback: opinion and suggestions for improvement.
