YSL,

Try mapping both ways:  AFM and MFM.  The AFM will give you a T-value, 
based on the enclosing/interpolated voxel.  The MFM will give you a mean 
T-value, based on where your volume intersected each of the 12 PALS hems.

By column here, I think you mean node.  The surface is made up of 
nodes.  Nodes are enclosed by voxels -- typically several nodes are 
enclosed within a given fMRI voxel.
