It's rightly noted that the current docs are just that - the official docs with predetermined format and the right amount of information for features of the CAS server. It is developed and maintained by CAS server developers implementing the software. On the other hand, the old confluence is a free-form wiki which is user contributed, hence you were able to get all this "rich" tutorial style content. May be it would be appropriate to consider ressurecting user-contributed wiki in some shape and form for just this very purpose. About the documentation, it is something that I have already asked. It is like very hard to find examples, for instance, in the old version we could find Tutorials and HOWTOs, and now we don't. Now the documentation is very simplified and schematic, before it had like better explanations to understand the whole system. Regards!
