My guess would be that Felix was merely highlighting the fact that some people still don't get open source. When someone's more familiar with "closed" source, a common question is "is this a supported platform" because they know that the provider won't help them otherwise.
In open source, though, that notion isn't necessarily valid. While we have platforms we're more familiar with, as a volunteer effort, we answer whatever questions we can and help wherever we can. In this instance, "supported" has more to do with available time and resources ;-) Commercial providers such as Unicon provide a comfortable bridge between the two worlds, for those who want to leverage open source but require SLAs on issue resolution.
