That's fine, but I vote for a fully fleshed out bare Tomcat as a reference HA 
application.

Many people in the community, I would think, stand up their first Tomcat server 
just the get CAS running (since nearly everyone is like me :p ). A fully 
fleshed out reference HA config, using tomcat would not only be sufficient for 
me and others, but would teach/illustrate the vague and generic principles of 
CAS HA.
