(Sending OOO spam to posters directly, on the other hand, is annoying but
manageable.) Whether or not to inform the user is up to the discretion of
whoever takes the initiative to do the work. I've attempted to politely
handle personal OOO spam by notifying users, and I've had a response rate of
less than 5%, so I don't believe there's much value in notification.

OOO spam is certainly annoying for those of us that post to the list on a
regular basis. I find it interesting that there are so many "bad" email
systems/clients out there!
How does this list currently handle OOO replies from members? I don't see
them on the list, so I guess you must be filtering them already somehow?
Anyways, I'm in favor of removing people that can't observe email
etiquette.
