I was using HyperTerminal (on XP).  I had already used it to successfully
transfer a new kernel.  The only thing I can think of is I was also doing a
simulink compile at the time.  We have a hefty core i7 though, and I thought
things would be fine.  Maybe the bus got too congested.  Still, I would
think a ~115kbps serial transfer would be easy to manage under this load.
