The trick is to avoid getting the filesystem corrupted in the first
place, and that can be done by keeping it readonly - if you expect
that nothing will get written after bootup, you can mount it readonly
manually (mount -o remount,ro /). Alternatively you can lay out the
partitions in such a way that critical files are readonly, but that
something like /var/data is a writable partition which can be
reformatted without breaking other things.
