Thanks Dan, that was very helpful. I found Radian makes a passive heat
sink that can be a snap on replacement for the fansink.

On another topic, is there a Bill of Materials available for the SFP+
Mezzanine Card?
We are looking into making a similar card as part of the PAPER project.
Thanks,
Joe

We are planning to rack mount Roach 2 Cards with forced air
cooling in the ALMA Correlator.
In this configuration, a passive heat sink on the Virtex 6 seems
more appropriate than the Fan based Vantec heat sinks.
Does this seem an appropriate way to go?
Has anyone operated Roach 2 boards with passive heat sinks before?
Does anyone have any specific heat sinks to recommend? Vantec
does not seem to make passive heat sinks.
Thanks,
