Lots of cores, lots of RAM, and an SSD primary! I worked with a six-core i7 running at 4.xxGHz and 64GB RAM, which seemed fine, but I was clearly bottlenecked by my HDDs. Definitely have an SSD... fortunately multi-TB NVMe drives are affordable now.
