Hi Wang, These VMs I've described are only important in generating gateware (*.fpg) files for each respective board, which require particular versions of Matlab/ISE/Vivado that may be incompatible with newer versions of Linux. The actual interaction with and operation of the board is carried out using the host OS, not the guest OSs. I may have misunderstood your intended use case: is it your plan to merely interact with and operate the roach2, or do you need to develop gateware as well? I think most common versions of Linux should be able to run the tools required to merely interact with the board. As I mentioned initially I think you're making your task more difficult than it needs to be by using netboot and not soloboot...

I'm new to this, and I have some questions. Is there any difference between using a VM to operate ROACH2 and installing an operating system on a host? When I have installed the VM. Do I need to set up some extra files to make ROACH2 work? What does your main operating system do, and what does it do when ROACH2 works? I am sorry to take up your precious time. This is what I'm currently doing: I have Rocky 8.6 as my main OS then Centos 6.10 in a VM for developing with roach2, and Ubuntu 18.04 in another VM for developing with Snap.
