This weekend I will rezip all our zip files in sf.net, which zip manager should I use to ensure compatability in both win and Linux?

WinZip is (de facto, barring new work from PKWare) the cannonical reader of Zip file. If it cannot read a ZIP file, it should be assumed that the problem is with the file, not with WinZip. This is essentially the argument between SEA & PKWare over ARC files that led to the creation of ZIPs in the first place.
