I’ve been single handling for more years than I’ll admit and the trick is NOT to fall out the boat.  That’s why I always where my inflatable life jacket and clip in when the weather is iffy and abide by the rule “one hand for me one hand for the boat”   I’ve known some folks that drag a long knotted line of the stern with some sort of float attached to the end.  Idea being they can grab on to it if they go over they’ll be able to hang on and get them selves back in - not sure I could do that myself but maybe it’d keep me with the boat .

Listees

Thinking about trying it alone this coming year.  Installed an autohelm last year, next year lazy jacks.  Already have the requisite auto-inflatable PFD.  But have not figured out the best way to get back in the boat if I happen to fall in and the boat is nearby.

Any thoughts, suggestions, experiences?
