Happy New Year to all!
After my Christmas eve sail I decided that it was
still to early to call it a day, so I ran the long put off lines for jiffy
reefing on the boom. No problem with the aft line other than the first piece I
used was about a foot short on one end. A problem arose when I ran the
other one, at the mast. The band on my mast is 42 1/2" above the deck. To
high for racing standards. My boom is slightly higher than that to allow the
main sail to fit inside the sail cover when flaked with the sail stop just
above the mast opening. The opening is 48" above the deck. To properly reef
the main I would need to have two sail slugs below the sail stop in order
to have the reef tack in the right position.
I'll either have to put on mast gates or reposition
the bottom two slugs, or maybe a much taller sail cover!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
