Just make sure when you make the template to cut the new piece you note which
side is up. Otherwise it is possible to finish up with a mirror image of what
you need (shape wise) and it won't fit.

Subject: catalina27-talk: Replacing carpet

I'm replacing the original carpet in my 82 Catalina 27. I brought the old
carpet home for the winter, thinking I would take it to a regular carpet shop
and ask them to cut a piece and install the snaps, using the old carpet as a
template.

I had previously checked with CatalinaOwners.Com, and they don't carry carpet.

Has anyone done this? Are there special specs for boat carpet? Is it likely the
snaps will be in the right place when I go to install it? Would I be better off
to buy the carpet as a rectangle, lay it on the floor, then cut it and install
the snaps in place? Any ideas would be appreciated.
