Fellow Marylanders -
There is a bill going through the legislature right now REQUIRING everyone
on a boat in Maryland waterways to wear a PFD. The bill is being
championed by some Baltimore City delegates in reaction to the water taxi
accident last year, but I have heard that the way bill is
currently written, commercial vehicles are exempted.
There is an article in the Capital today saying that the bill is going to
be reworked to include charter boats (fishing boats and water taxis etc.), but I
don't think we should just sit by and wait to see IF they change the law.
The article does not address anything other than charter boats.

http://mlis.state.md.us/2006rs/bills/hb/hb0140f.pdf I urge those of you who value your choice to wear a PFD or not wear one to
contact your representatives and tell them what you think about having your
freedom to choose revoked. I hope someone steps in and tells me that I have my
facts wrong, but I have heard this from several sources, most recently at AYC on
Saturday.
Off my soap box now. Chris
