Many thanks to everyone who replied.
Tim's reply was exactly what I was looking for. At $2,500, give or take, for the initial move, then $800/yr for winter storage, all of a sudden a $5,500 trailer doesn't look all that unreasonable. It's 70 miles to the lake: up in the spring, back in the fall, and I've got access to a truck that will pull the load. As a bonus, the boat is here over the off season to resolve any problems or do any upgrades.
Tim, do you know anything about Don Robertson's trailers - he calls them Cradle Ride Trailers - in Markham?

Bill; I just did this last year. We went from a C22 to a C27. I had it trucked 450 miles from Muskegon, Mi. to L. Simcoe, north of Toronto. I had three estimates all the same price of $2495. US company was in US$, Cdn. in Cdn$. I finally tried one that the broker said wasn't bad. Asked if he could do the job for $2000 Cdn. He accepted the offer. He even cleared it through customs for me so I didn't have to pay a broker to do that. He paid the tax and just added that to my bill, with no extra charge. I would check with your local brokerage to see who they recommend. And don't be afraid to negotiate. I had to pay extra for mast step and unstep, and I paid for load/unload with travel lift.Good luck.RegardsTim Glover"Asylum"1980 C27 #4596Jackson's Point, Ontario
