I'm adding wooden steps to mine and making a "Mini" platform at the top to step on to get into the boat. Easy to make out of teak or mahogany. I'm using plastic pipe clips screwed into the step with stainless screws to keep them from falling off. I'm notching them to fit around the vertical side of the ladder so they won't twist when you step on them. I really wish it was one rung longer though.
As far as the ice box goes I've got a piece of the foil backed insulation foam scavengaged from a house project dumpster that fits the ice box. I mounted a handle on it so I could pick it out.
