I've used that as well.  Couple of caveats - if your tank is full and depending 
on how your boat sets becareful that you don't end up with diesel going all 
over the place.  Slowly loosen one of the bolts/screws holding the sender in 
place and check and make sure diesel isn't coming out.  If it is you'll have to 
use the fuel line to the engine to drain out enough to take the sender out 
without making a mess.  The old style senders were the type with a float and an 
arm - you'll have to work  it out carefully so you don't bend it.
