Keep in mind that the GPS shows you speed over ground - that's not always the same as how fast your boat is moving through the water.
Theoretical hull speed is the speed that the boat can move through still water - has to do with things like hull shape and bow waves and the size of one's private parts. It's something sailboat owners seem to worry about but not something naval architects worry about.
