The best solution to the shroud wraps is the PVC. As mentioned earlier, it is cheap and readily available. I will be installing them on my 27 this weekend as I am replacing them on my 22 as well. The set up I plan to use is 3-4 feet on the forward shroud, 2-3 on the mid shroud and 1-2 on the aft. A similar set up on my C-22 completely eliminated the headsail from hanging on the shrouds.

A short section (approx 8 inches ) covers the Turnbuckles, It has a cap on it. Above , and covering the shroud , is the second section of PVC with a cap at each end.. the cap acts like a Bearing and allows the TOP section to revolve (the short bottom section is held by contact to the deck).. Each cap was picked up at West Marine. Easily fit into the PVC pipe, and secured with a touch of glue. The top section rotates as the sail is pulled across. The short bottom section stays put. The top section's length is determined by HOW HIGH your Sailcloth touches on the Shroud.. (Mine is about 4 feet long, making the combined length about 4' 6'' for my 135 percent ) the whole thing was easy to build and except having to remove the turnbuckle to slide the PVC pipes on, is quick to do..
