Earlier I wrote about painting the deck of my C22 with Easypoxy. A couple of
points I failed to mention, may be pertinent to the current thread. First,
becasue I sanded only moderately my non-skid was still quite prominent, so, I
did not add any abrasive. Things turned out fine. (Of course, I didn't race
the C22 and didn't have to worry about a foredeck crew desprately changing
headsails in a wet, pitching sea while beating to windward, nose-to-nose with
the competition.)
The second point is: I did not use a primer and only one coat of paint.
Thus, there wasn't much to "fill" the onld non-skid.
If I were to paint again, I would use a primer to ensure filling of spider
cracks, in which case, an abrasive might be called for.

It depends. Great answer eh? This is used on my C-22 that I race. I used a
heavy concentration of the grit on the foredeck, cabin to and side walk area.
You could not see the pattern very well. However, in the cockpit and aft
combing areas, I used a light concentration and the pattern is still easily
visible.
