Check your blower switch first. I thought my blower had failed but it turned out that the blower switch was corroded/dirty. I sprayed some electrical contact cleaner (from radio shack) into it two years ago and it has worked ever since.

Hello,

I'm pretty sure the exhaust blower for my engine compartment has died.  Since I have a diesel, it's not imperative that I have one to clear out the fumes; I only use it to keep the heat down inside when running the engine.  I seem to recall a discussion about replacing the blower with an industrial strength PC type fan.  Something about the power consumption and quietness made it very appropriate for running on the boat.

Any thoughts/comments on this idea?
