I got one of their kits a couple of years ago.
While my experience was, essentially, the same as yours, I did manage to
wrestle mine back together
What I never understood, and what I don't think was
detailed in the kit, is whether or not you put sealant in the vinyl channel,
fit it around the glass, and placing the glass back in the channel on the
window frame. Or, is the vinyl gasket simply dry fit around the glass
with the friction of the window frame giving a proper seal.
I chose to put sealant everywhere — ending up covered
a**hole to elbows with sealant — but, I got them all back together. I
used butyl rubber tape (from an RV store) to caulk around the window
frames as I put them back in the boat. I can report no leaks since
then.
If there's an easier or less messy way, I don't know
it.
