Hi Glenn, 

I've used Ephinees (not sure of the spelling) gloss varnish for probably the 
last six years.  It has a UV inhibitor, dries rather quickly.  You need to do 
good prep work before.  I do a couple of coats once a season with touch ups as 
needed. It's available in small cans.  Once open it needs to be used up within 
a few months.  It seems rather pricey, but worth it.
