Today's Topics: 1. ALCTS: proposed new interest group for solo/almost solo librarians (Elaine Franco) 2. Reminder: Join us for the first-ever ALCTS 101 webinar: FREE! (Elaine Franco)
---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi everyone-- I spoke with some ALCTS people at the coffee and chat during Midwinter about getting more involved in the organization. Since there aren't any committees or interest groups for solo librarians or librarians in very small libraries of any kind, they suggested it might be a good idea to form one and post to all of you about that possibility. There may be an outside possibility that it could be a virtual group only. Or at least the possibility for most members to Skype in during Annual. In order to start a new interest group, I would need at least 10 members. This is still in the theoretical stage, but I thought that I would throw it out to all of you to see if anyone might be interested. Any small/solo librarians out there who would be interested in that? Tricia Jauquet Assistant Director/Technical Services Librarian Purdue University North Central ------------------------------ Reminder: Still time to register for webinar scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2015. Please share this announcement with your state/regional technical service group members. The webinar is FREE to all, regardless of ALA or ALCTS membership status and will last one hour. I am on the agenda to briefly (5-8 minutes) comment on the benefits of ALCTS affiliation for local groups and for individuals who may not be able to attend national conferences in person or who would like to become active nationally, but have only state/regional experience. If you have any specific questions/issues you would like me to address, please let me know.
