All:
When I first started birding and joined the list, I spent several months in confusion not knowing where places like "Hog Hole", "Jetty Woods" or "Monkey Run" were exactly. Then someone posted this link to a Google map that explained it all, and which I still find useful: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=114120516821703404941.000445465d665faee559f.
A hearty Thanks to the creator of this map!

At the weekend I ran into a couple of birders who are in the same situation I was back then. I hope this helps them and others.

At least one person reported that the link above just brings up a map of the US without markers. I don't understand Google maps well enough to understand why this might be so, but here is an alternative link that may improve things.

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=114120516821703404941.000445465d665faee559f&z=9

If this still doesn't work, I would suggest checking the URL shown in the address bar to make sure it didn't get truncated.

Paul
